  • Due to the pandemic the expo was not possible.

Seagull Century

EVENT OVERVIEW

Sea Gull Century is a nationally acclaimed bicycling event, beginning and ending on the campus of Salisbury University.

Salisbury University’s Sea Gull Century bike tour is set for Saturday, September 28, 2024.

Registration is open from June 10th through September 23rd.

Cyclists will depart campus for two optional routes, 63 miles or 100 miles, across the Lower Eastern Shore.

The Wild Goose

WHAT'S HAPPENING SATURDAY

Bicycle mechanic workshops - Join a team of women from The Rockville Bike Hub for some hands-on experience with basic bike maintenance. We will provide workshop bikes, tools and wheels for you to practice with. Topics covered will include cleaning your bike, drivetrain maintenance, brake and derailleur adjustments, bike specific tool recommendations, the crowd-pleasing flat tire repair and a few suggestions for avoiding those flats.  Dirty hands and gentle guidance guaranteed.  Workshop is about 2 hours long

Nature Rides - Ride on the Wildlife drive with a Blackwater NWR volunteer.  Learn about the refuge and look for flora and fauna. Ride is about an hour long - 4-8 miles depending on the number of stops.

Birding with Peter- Peter will lead an early morning bird walk on one of the trails on the Wildlife Drive.  No experience necessary.  Ride your bike to the trailhead, chain it to the bike rack and walk a short loop looking and listening for birds.  Binoculars provided.  I hour about 2 miles riding and ?- ¼ mile walking.

Yoga -   Join yogi & cyclist Stacy Kincaid for an all-levels yoga class to stretch, activate and prepare your body and mind for a healthy ride. Bring your own mat/towel.  The class will be outside.  Please dress in layers.  The teacher will have a few extra mats. Class is 1 hour.

Tubman Ride - A guided ride to places frequented by young Harriet Tubman. Led by Susan Meredith who owns the Bucktown store where Harriet was a regular customer.  End at the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center. About 15 miles.  2:00-? depending on how long you stay
